بات کرنی مجھے مشکل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
جیسی اب ہے تیری محفل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
لے گیا چھین کے کون آج تیرا صبر و قرار
بے قراری تجھے اے دل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
چشم _ قاتل میری دشمن تھی ہمیشہ لیکن
جیسی اب ہو گئیی قاتل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
ان کی آنکھوں نے خدا جانے کیا کیا جادو
کہ طبیعت میری مائل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
عکس _ رخ _ یار نے کس سے ہے تجھے چمکایا
تاب تجھ میں مہ _کامل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
کیا سبب تو جو بگڑتا ہے ظفر سے ہر بار
خو تیری حور _ شمائل کبھی ایسی تو نہ تھی
बात करनी मुझे मुश्किल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
जैसी अब है तेरी महफ़िल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
ले गया छीन के कौन आज तेरा सब्र-ओ-करार
बेक़रारी तुझे ए दिल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
चश्म-ए-क़ातिल मेरी दुश्मन थी हमेशा लेकिन
जैसे अब हो गई क़ातिल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
उनकी आँखों ने खुदा जाने किया क्या जादू
के तबीयत मेरी माइल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
अक्स-ए-रुख-ए-यार ने किस से है तुझे चमकाया
ताब तुझ में माह-ए-कामिल कभी ऐसी तो न थी
क्या सबब तू जो बिगड़ता है ज़फर से हर बार
खू तेरी हूर-ए-शमाइल कभी ऐसी तो न थी

bat karni mujhe mushkil kabhi aisi to na thi
jaisi ab hai teri mahfil kabhi aisi to na thi
[My love, your company was never before such as it is now (composed, stern). It was never before so difficult for me to say what I wish to say]
le gaya chin k kaun aj tera sabr-o-qarar
beqarari tujhe ai dil kabhi aisi to na thi
[Who, O my heart, has run away with your calm and patience, you were never before as restless as you are today.]
chashm-e-qatil meri dushman thi hamesha lekin
jaise ab ho gai qatil kabhi aisi to na thi
[The beauty of those eyes was always something to die for, but lately their killing power seems to have increased manifold.]
un ki ankhon ne Khuda jane kiya kya jadu
k tabiyat meri mael kabhi aisi to na thi
[Those eyes have played God knows what magic that I find myself attracted to them more than ever before.]
aks-e-ruKh-e-yar ne kis se hai tujhe chamkaya
tab tujh mein mah-e-kamil kabhi aisi to na thi
[I wonder what it is that was used by the glowing reflection (in my eyes) of my beloved’s countenance, O full moon, your brilliance was never before as piercing as it is now.]
kya sabab tu jo bigarta hai “Zafar” se har bar
khu teri hur-e-shamail kabhi aisi to na thi
[Why is it that I find you sore with me (Zafar) all the time, O My love,
You my wonderful hoor had no such habit before.]
